The method of obtaining enduring Power of Attorney is changing

- From 01 October 2007 EPAs will be called Lasting Power of Attorney (LPAs)
- applications will have to be made to the Office of the Public Guardian
- there will be 2 forms to complete - both 25 pages long. One is called 'personal welfare' and - the other 'property and affairs'. They will cost £150 each.
- the total costs for the new LPAs are likely to be 10 times higher than before, more like £1000 than £100 as at present

EPAs already drawn up before 01 October 2007 will still be valid, so you are advised to act quickly before 01 October in order to take full advantage of the simpler, cheaper existing method.
